Rajasthan's capital Jaipur was shaken by an earthquake on Friday. Three tremors were felt here between 4.09 am and 4.25 am. At present, there is no news of any damage due to the earthquake.
According to the National Center for Seismology, there have been three tremors. The first tremor of the earthquake occurred at 4:09, with a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale. The second aftershock occurred at 4:22 with a magnitude of 3.1 and the third aftershock occurred at 4:25 with a magnitude of 3.4. Dausa, and Tonk districts were also shaken on Friday morning, sparking panic even as no loss of life was reported.
No one was ready to return to their homes
After three tremors, people were filled with fear. In Triveni Nagar, there was apprehension in the minds of the people that after feeling three tremors, there might be a fourth or fifth tremor. Seeing the danger, no one was ready to go to their house. Due to this also there was crowd on the roads for a long time.
Akash, a student living here, told – I was studying. When the tremors of the earthquake occurred, at first it felt like dizziness, then suddenly a sound was heard. Later, when I went out of the room, I saw that people were talking about earthquake in the street.
Mahesh Nagar resident Kavita told that she is 50 years old, but she has never felt such an earthquake before. Student Ritika1 told that she had heard about the earthquake in Bhuj (Gujarat), but today she realized what would have happened there and what those people must have felt.
Hostel girls were trapped
At that time there were about 30 to 40 girls in a girls hostel in the same area. The hostel gate was locked. Hearing the screams of the girls, the neighbors informed the hostel owner. After this the girls were taken out by opening the lock.
Power failure after tremors
Local people told that they felt earthquake tremors one after the other. An explosion-like sound was heard. People came out of their houses and apartments at 4 in the morning due to fear. After the earthquake, there was a power failure in many areas.
A resident of Unique Prime Apartment located at Shipra Path in Mansarovar area, told that there was a loud sound of building shaking. It felt like the ship was going down. Another resident of Vidyadhar Nagar, told that tremors have been felt in Jaipur before, but such a strong earthquake was felt for the first time.
People sat in nearby parks and open fields
Due to three tremors, people got scared and went and sat in the nearby parks and open fields. On the other hand, some people kept waiting for the situation to become normal by putting a chair on the road.
Tremors will keep coming
Jaipur comes in Zone-2 and Western Rajasthan Zone-3 of Seismic Zone. There are tremors of normal intensity in these zones. According to geologist Dr. Rajendra Singh Rathore, there is a fault line (rift) in the east of the Aravalli range. This fault line passes through the eastern coast of Rajasthan till Dharamshala. This includes Jaipur, Ajmer, Bharatpur areas of Rajasthan.
Experts say that movement has started in the cracks in the Aravalli mountain. Now the tremors will keep coming in Jaipur and other adjoining areas as well.
