Every year on the 15th of August, India commemorates Independence
Day with great pride and happiness. The day is marked by hoisting the
national flag and reciting the National Anthem to honour the efforts and
sacrifices of our freedom fighters.
This Independence Day,
Geetanjali Mishra (Rajesh from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan) nostalgically
recalls her memories of raising the Indian flag during school
ceremonies.

Geetanjali
Mishra, the new Rajesh in Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, shares, “I completed
my education in Mumbai, and celebrating Independence Day was an absolute
delight during those years. Every year, alongside my classmates, I
would don a white salwar kameez paired with a tricolour dupatta and
perform patriotic songs on stage. I enthusiastically participated in
dance performances showcasing various Indian dance forms. These
cherished memories from my school days remain close to my heart, and I
never missed an opportunity to engage in these activities.”
Geetanjali tells that during school days the Independence Day’s highlight was the integral and memorable flag-raising ceremony.
Used to savour motichoor laddoos and snack
The beautiful actress said, “Observing our Indian flag gracefully unfurl against the sky always filled me with joy. Following the ceremony, my friends and I would gather to savour motichoor laddoos and snacks graciously provided by our principal. Though I miss those days, I now have the privilege of hoisting the flag every Independence Day in my community, a source of immense joy and pride.”
