Madhya Pradesh: Will FIR Against Priyanka Over 50% Commission Become A Big Political Issue; Will Congress Corner BJP?

Bhopal: The allegation of 50 per cent commission against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government in Madhya Pradesh has heated up the politics in poll-bound state.

An FIR against Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and others in Madhya Pradesh's Indore has sparked a wave of reaction from Congress leaders, who have slammed the ruling BJP at both the Centre and State. Congress MP KC Venugopal said that the BJP can register hundreds of FIRs against Congress leaders but they will keep raising the issue of corruption in the state.

War of words

At present, a war of words is going on between the leaders of BJP and Congress in the state. While the Congress is alleging 50 percent commission in the Shivraj government, the BJP is also constantly retaliating.

KK Mishra, the state president of the media department of the Congress, made many allegations against the government. Mishra has said that finally the 50 percent commission secret of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government has officially come to the fore. The entire state received a letter through social media in which a contractor has complained to the Chief Justice of the High Court that corruption is at its peak in the state due to 50 percent commission. The alleged contractor said in the letter to the Chief Justice that no payment is released by the government without paying 50 percent commission.

Nath's appeal to party workers

Congress has come out with a plan to make the issue bigger to corner the ruling party ahead of the Assembly polls. In response to the FIRs, former Chief Minister and Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath on Sunday appealed to the party workers to stand against corruption and uproot this 50 per cent commission rule.

In a social media post, Kamal Nath said, "FIRs were lodged by BJP leaders in various districts of the state against Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, Arun Yadav and myself."

Senior Congress spokesperson Santosh Singh alleged that after the 'commission of 50 per cent' came to the fore, the BJP is unnerved.
