Bhopal: Women in Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh have made rakhis from banana fiber. In Rakshabandhan, eco-friendly rakhi will be tied on the wrists of the brothers, for which about 60 women have been working with diligence. The demand for these eco-friendly rakhis made by Burhanpur’s women is also seen in the surrounding rural areas of the district.
Objective of making women self-reliant
Women are getting work by making rakhis. The women started making Rakhis after getting training from the Livelihood Mission. There is a demand for women's rakhi in about 50 nearby villages. Meena told that the women of self-help groups were trained by the Livelihood Mission. Through the training we have now become self-reliant, she said.
1000 feet long rakhi in Bhind will find place in Guinness Book
This time, a thousand feet long rakhi will be tied in Madhya Pradesh on Raksha Bandhan. The size of the largest flower in this is 25 feet. This rakhi is being prepared at Mehgaon in Bhind district. The organizers claim that it will be the biggest Rakhi in the world. During this, the team of Guinness Book of World Records will also be present.
Artisans from Delhi and Gwalior have been busy making it for the last 15 days. This rakhi is being prepared by applying foam on top of plywood. Rakhi will be designed by coloring the foam with pearls, stars and other materials. Rakhi's thread is being prepared by weaving the Safa. The length of the thread will be several feet. Its last end will be so thin that it can be tied on the wrist.
