Bhopal: The monsoon has become active again in Madhya Pradesh. It rained heavily in Bhopal on Friday afternoon. It is raining in Jabalpur, Vidisha, Raisen since morning. Heavy rain is expected in 14 districts including Rewa. It will be cloudy in Indore, while the weather will be clear in Gwalior.
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rains in Rewa, Anuppur, Shahdol, Umaria, Dindori, Katni, Jabalpur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Mandla, Panna, Damoh, Sagar and Chhatarpur in the next 24 hours.
In the last 24 hours, there was heavy rain in many districts of Madhya Pradesh. Seoni recorded highest 10 cm of rainfall.
Heavy rains also occurred in Umaria, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur and Naogaon. Light to moderate rainfall also occurred in Bhopal, Betul, Satna, Damoh, Tikamgarh, Khargone and Gwalior. According to the Meteorological Department, it rained in the night in most of the districts. Heavy rain is expected here even on Friday.
Rivers, streams in spate in Seoni
It is raining continuously in Seoni since Thursday. The rivers and streams are in spate. There was a power failure in the night for an hour due to strong winds blowing with rain. The administration has also appealed to the people not to cross rivers, drains, bridges and culverts if there is water on them.
It rained heavily for one hour on Thursday-Friday night in Raisen. So far 780.1 mm of rain has been recorded in the district. There has been 18 mm of rain in 24 hours.
Cyclonic circulation forms in Bay of Bengal
Senior Meteorologist Dr. HS Pandey said that a cyclonic circulation is forming in the Bay of Bengal, due to which the weather may change with the formation of low pressure area from August 18. It has started raining in the eastern part of the state.
Monsoon activity will increase on 19 and 20 August. There may be heavy rains at some places in Rewa-Shahdol division. Apart from this, from August 18 itself, the passing of the trough line will also start the phase of rain.
