Muslim Student Slap Row: Muzaffarnagar School Served Notice

Muzaffarnagar: Neha Public School in Khabbupur village in Uttar Pardesh's Muzaffarnagar  remained closed for the third day on Monday. A Muslim student of the school was slapped by his classmates allegedly at the behest of his teacher on August 25

A video of school teacher Tripta Tyagi had gone viral in which she asked students of Class 2 to slap their Muslim classmate for allegedly not doing his homework, triggering widespread condemnation.

The school management said it was not opening the school as it was busy replying to the show cause notice served to it by the education department over the school's affiliation.

School served show cause notice

Muzaffarnagar Basic Shiksha Adhikari Shubham Shukla said the school was served a show cause notice on Saturday and it has been asked to submit its reply on Monday on the issue of its affiliation.

The school was given government affiliation for a period of three years in 2019 which expired last year, but the management did not try for its renewal, he said.

Shukla, however, said the said school will not be closed and normal teaching activities will continue there in the interests of students till an alternate arrangement is made for them.

Victim student could be admitted to govt school

Meanwhile the Muslim student, who was slapped by his classmates, will be admitted to a government primary school provided his family agrees to it, officials of the education department said.

The department will also facilitate for the transfer of other students studying in Neha Public School in Khabbupur village where the incident took place on Friday, they said.

The Muslim student was taken to Meerut on Sunday for a medical checkup after he complained of being disturbed and not able to sleep last night.

When asked about a compromise with Tripta Tyagi, the school teacher involved in the incident, the father said there will be no compromise with her.

Earlier, an FIR was also registered against Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair on Monday for allegedly revealing the identity of the eight-year-old Muslim student, police said.
