Bharatmala Project: Overpasses Being Built In Bundi For Safety Of Tigers; Tunnel Being Built In Mukundra

Five overpasses are being built for the safety of tigers in the 11.5 km stretch of the 38 km expressway being built in Bundi district under the Bharatmala Project. The 11.5 km stretch comes under the Ramgarh Tiger Reserve and is the corridor of Ramgarh, Mukundra and Ranthambore Tiger Reserves. The movement of tigers continues from here. 90% of the work has been completed.

Manoj Sharma, Project Director, NHAI, Sawaimadhopur, said that for the protection of wildlife, 5 overpasses are being constructed in Bundi district. The aim is to maintain the safety of tigers. Trees, plants and grass are being planted over the overpass, so that the tigers feel like a forest. A 6 meter boundary wall is also being built in the entire corridor so that the tiger cannot jump over it.

3.5 km long underpass will have 5 overpasses

The underpass here will be 3.5 km long. To ensure good drainage and lighting facilities, 5 overpasses are being built at a gap of 500 meters each. Vehicles will pass through underpass from below and it is being given the shape of a hill at the top. Saplings are being planted here, so that when the wild animals pass through these hills, they can feel like a forest.

A 6 meter high boundary wall is also being built near the overpass in the entire corridor, so that the tiger cannot jump over it. With this, the tiger will also be protected along with the people.

4.9 km long tunnel being built in Mukundra Tiger Reserve

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will cover a distance of 106 km in Kota district. The area of Mukandra Tiger Reserve comes under the expressway. Here, a 4.9 km long tunnel is being built for the normal movement of wildlife. Out of this 3.3 km will pass under the mountain. The tunnel will be extended on both sides, so that wildlife is not affected by vehicles passing through the tiger reserve. The tunnel will cost Rs 1143 crore. The work is expected to be completed by December 2024.

Animal underpasses are also being built at 6 places in Bundi district

Keeping in view the safety of wildlife in Bundi district, underpasses will be made at 6 places. The largest underpass of 1700 meters will be built near Chakan Dam, which will cross Chakan Dam. Wildlife will pass through it from below and vehicles will move above it. Similarly, 1200 meter underpasses have been made in Devpura, 300 meter in Gudha, 300 meter in Balapura, 300 meter in Sunari and 300 meter in Papdi.
