New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former party president Rahul Gandhi have expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of two army officers and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in an encounter with terrorists in Anantnag and an Army Jawan in Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir.
Kharge said "Our brave Army personnel and a DSP have made the supreme sacrifice while fighting terrorists in the encounter in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir. We are deeply saddened by their loss. Our deepest condolences to the families of our bravehearts. India is united against terrorism."
Gandhi said, “The news of the martyrdom of two of our Army officers and a DSP of Jammu and Kashmir Police in a terrorist encounter in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir is extremely saddening. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the martyrs in this difficult time. The entire country will always remember his sacrifice for the protection of India.
Encounters took place in Anantnag and Rajouri
Encounters took place between security forces and terrorists in Anantnag and Rajouri of Jammu and Kashmir. An army colonel Manpreet Singh, a Major Ashish Dhonchak, a police DSP Humayun Bhatt and an Army Jawan Ravi Kumar were martyred in Anantnag.
An army Jawan was martyred in Rajouri on Tuesday. Here the security forces killed two terrorists. An army dog also died during the search in Rajouri.
A large quantity of weapons and medicines made in Pakistan were also recovered from the Rajouri encounter site. The terrorist organization The Resistance Force has taken responsibility for the attack in Anantnag. It is an associate organization of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba.
