Madhya Pradesh: CM Shivraj performs Maharudra Anushthan in Mahakal temple Ujjain for ample rainfall


Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan performed Maharudra Anushthan at Lord Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain on Monday for ample rainfall in the state. In the ritual, 1331 Rudra recitations were performed. This ritual is of utmost importance in the month of Shravan-Bhadav. 


A total of 66 priests including Pt. Ghanshyam Pujari, Pt. Ashish Pujari, Pt. Yash-Pradeep Guru, Pt. Radheshyam Shastri, Pt. Lokesh Vyas, Pt. Mahesh Pujari performed the Maharudra Anushthan.



Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat, MLA Paras Jain, Bahadur Singh Chouhan, Mayor Mukesh Tatwal, Ujjain Development Authority Chairman Shyam Bansal and former MP Chintamani Malviya were present.


CM had called emergency meeting to review drought situation 


Earlier on Monday night, CM Shivraj had called an emergency meeting to review the situation to deal with the drought, in which ministers and senior officials of the concerned departments participated. The Chief Minister had said in the meeting that there is great power in prayer. 


CM Shivraj had appealed from a public forum in a programme organized in the capital Bhopal two days ago that everyone should pray to God for rain in the state because the entire August has passed without rain.


Govt will save Kharif crop: CM


CM Shivraj had said that the state government is fully prepared and will work expeditiously to meet the possible challenges of saving Kharif crops in the state. In this hour of need, the state government stands with the farmers. 


CM Shivraj said that there has been very less rainfall in the month of August. Kharif crops have been affected. We will work with full force to deal with this crisis. Demand for electricity has also increased. We will also make better arrangements for this. 


CM said crops will be saved by releasing water from the dam. CM Shivraj said that attention will also be given to the provision of employment to rural youth. We will arrange for drinking and sewage water.


Arrangements will be made to release water from dams


CM Shivraj said arrangements to release water from the dams should be made where water is available. Information should be sought about how much water is currently available in the dams. Necessary instructions should be given to the district administration. Advisories should be issued to farmers regarding irrigation.
