Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan performed bhoomi-pujan of Ramraja Lok in the Ramraja Temple complex in Orchha and laid the foundation stone for the construction work.
CM Shivraj said that “Ujjain has changed into Mahakal Lok and now Orchha will change in Ram Raja Lok”. The huge Ram Raja Lok will be constructed in Orchha, the city of Lord Ram, at a cost of Rs 81 crores, encompassing Ramraja Temple complex and surrounding areas. Ramraja Temple is the main center of the World Heritage Orchha in Niwari district. It was built by the then Bundela rulers.
The center point of Orchha is Ram Raja Temple, which is visited by a large number of devotees and tourists. Ramraja Lok will be developed in Ramraja Temple in Orchha keeping in view the sentiments of the devotees and amenities for tourists.
Ramraja Lok will be developed in about 12 acres around the temple
Sri Ramraja temple complex is spread over approximately 2.86 acres. Ramraja Lok will be developed in about 12 acres of area around the temple. Ramraja Lok will start from the Grand Durbar Corridor at the entrance.
In the temple premises, the works that will be undertaken with Rs 41 crores include development of Plaza with Sri Ramraja entrance, Prasadalaya, Qatar Parisar, Development of Sri Janaki Temple Complex, Food Plaza, Restoration of nearby shops, crowd management, beautification of shops and description of the Bal Swaroop, Ramraja durbar, courtyard and premises with the description of Bal Kaand.
Kamal Stambh and Pushpak Vimana will be seen
Some important items related to Ramayana will be used in the courtyard. Kamal Stambh and Pushpak Vimana inspired by the beautiful Kamala Nayan will be seen. The unique form of local architecture, temple courtyard and historical buildings will be seen in this Lok. The architecture of Ramraja Lok will be an example of the authenticity and integrity of Bundelkhand.
Conservation of monuments
The development of corridor and courtyard with the description of Ram’s child form (bal swarup) and Raja Ram’s court will be done and the buildings of archaeological importance of Ram Raja Temple will be conserved. In this, necessary works will be done in Ram Raja Mandir, Patal Hanuman Mandir, Janaki Mata temple complexes along with lighting arrangement at a cost of Rs 9 crore and development work of public facilities at a cost of Rs 4 crore 75 lakhs.
In Ram Raja Lok, Ram’s Bal Leelas will be displayed in the Bal Kaand premises. The Uttar Kaand will be shown through pictures. Ram will be depicted as a king through stories.
Tourists will get facilities
An amount of Rs 19 crore 72 lakh has been sanctioned for the conservation of important monuments of Orchha and development of facilities for tourists in the surrounding areas. This development of Tulsi Ghat - boat club, changing rooms, lockers, public facilities, internal roads and pathways near the monuments and footpaths around the fort, lighting etc. near the monuments, interpretation centre near the Chaturbhuj temple, upgradation of the ghat near Kanchana Ghat/Chhatris and other works.
