Bhopal: Due to the low pressure area formed in North Odisha in the Bay of Bengal and the activation of other monsoon systems, rains are continuing at many places Madhya Pradesh including capital Bhopal. During this period, there was heavy rain in Malajkhand of Seoni and Balaghat, where about 15 cm rainfall was recorded.
Malajkhand of Balaghat received 167 mm rainfall
According to scientists of Meteorological Center, Bhopal, a low pressure area has formed in North Odisha in the Bay of Bengal, and it is moving forward. Along with this, a trough line is passing through Madhya Pradesh. Due to this, rain continues across the state. Malajkhand of Balaghat received maximum rainfall of 166.6 millimeters (mm) during the last 24 hours. Whereas 145.6 mm rainfall was recorded in Seoni. Along with this, 103 mm rainfall was recorded in Narsinghpur.
Alert of heavy rain issued
The department has issued an alert of heavy rain in the districts of Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Sagar divisions during the next twenty-four hours.
The process of rain is continuing in the capital Bhopal and its surrounding areas since this morning, which continued till afternoon. There is a possibility of rain here during the next 24 hours also.
7 gates of Bargi Dam, all gates of Tawa opened
Due to rise in the water level of Narmada, 7 gates of Bargi Dam in Jabalpur had to be opened at 12 noon. For the first time this season in Narmadapuram, all the 13 gates of Tawa Dam have been opened up to nine feet each. Due to this, water will reach 5 to 10 feet in the ghats on Narmada bank. As Wainganga river is in spate, 5 gates of Sanjay Sarovar Dam have been opened. Gates of more than five dams have been opened across the state.
Due to heavy rains the road caved in at Salangtola in Paraswara. Due to this, Balaghat district lost contact with Seoni. More than 24 kutcha houses have collapsed in rural areas as the Mahakari river is in spate in the district. Here Home Guard and SDERF teams are engaged in the rescue operation.
Heavy rain likely in Bhopal
It has been raining heavily intermittently since Friday morning in the capital Bhopal. The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert of extremely heavy rain today. If it continues to rain like this, more than 10 cm of rainfall is expected to occur in the next 24 hours. In the last 14 days, Bhopal has received 13 cm of rain, while the normal rainfall for September is 17.5 cm.
Drizzle started in the areas of Kolar Road from 6:30 in the morning, while heavy rain started at 8 o'clock. This led to water logging in many areas. It is raining heavily on Ayodhya bypass also. The showers continue in many areas including Karond, Hoshangabad Road, Raisen Road, Chhola, Sant Hirdaram Nagar (Bairagarh), Ashoka Garden. After 2 pm, heavy rain started again, which continued for a long time.
