Rajasthan Assembly Election-2023: Why BJP First List Of Candidates Is Delayed; What Is BJP’s Criterion Of Candidate Selection?

Jaipur: Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan will be held in December. BJP has released its first list of candidates in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, but it is delaying in Rajasthan. When will BJP announce tickets in Rajasthan? Meanwhile, people associated with the party say that the first list can come only after September 25.

First list may be released after September 25

PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who are part of the BJP Election Committee, will be busy in the G-20 summit till 10 September. A special session of Parliament is also going to be held between 18th and 22nd September in which all the veteran leaders will be present. On the other hand, these days the party is taking out Parivartan Yatras in Rajasthan. Leaders and workers will be busy in the Yatra for 15-20 days.

Party's focus now on success of Parivartan Yatras

A senior leader of the party said that the groundwork of surveys and feedback of aspiring candidates is almost complete but the party's focus is now on the success of Parivartan Yatras. All the prominent leaders of the state will participate in the Yatras for the next 25 days, so no meeting is scheduled for deliberations on candidate selection for now. According to BJP Election Screening Committee winability is the only criterion in giving ticket.

Preference will be given to new faces

This time the party has also decided that the candidates who lost by more than 10 thousand votes in the last 2018 elections will not get tickets this time. Candidates for about 86 such seats could be denied tickets. However, the party has also set some terms and conditions. If candidates fulfill these criteria then they can get the ticket. This time in ticket distribution, new faces below 45 years of age can be given preference in ticket distribution.

First list of 70 to 80 candidates

The meeting of BJP's Central Election Committee was held on August 16 in New Delhi. In which all these issues were discussed. Sources associated with the Central Election Committee say that the first list may have names of 70 to 80 candidates. Most of them are seats where the party is very weak as well as the seats which are strongest in terms of party cadre and previous vote share. There are about 135 seats in these categories.

However, a meeting of the BJP election committee is expected to be held before September 25 this month. If it happens then names can be finalized in it. However, the announcement will be made later. Those whose names will be decided will be informed. They will start their election preparations. This time the party will give tickets only to those sitting MLAs who are fully active in their areas.
