Asian Games-2023: Indian Female Golfer Bags Medal For First Time In Asiad, Aditi Ashok Wins Silver

Hangzhou: In golf, India’s Aditi Ashok grabbed a silver to kickoff Sunday’s medal rush at the Asian Games-2023 in Hangzhou. India will be aiming to add more medals to their tally with chances up for grabs in athletics, badminton and shooting.  India has 39 medals including 10 gold in Asiad so far.


Amlan Borgohain advanced to the semi-final


India's Amlan Borgohain finished at the third position after clocking a timing of 21.08 seconds in the men's 200m heats and advanced to the semi-final  on Sunday.


The Indian badminton contingent will also look to cross the Chinese hurdle and grab the gold medal when they take on the home team in their backyard on Sunday.


Nikhat Zareen will aim to maintain her unbeaten run


Meanwhile after assuring India of a medal and sealing her Paris 2024 quota, Nikhat Zareen will aim to keep her unbeaten run going. 


In athletics, Avinash Sable, Jyothi Yarraji and Sreeshankar Murali will all be in medal contention as track & field events pick up pace on Sunday.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
