Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested a person for sending an email threatening an attack on the city's Narendra Modi Stadium. Officials gave this information on Wednesday. He told that the accused has been arrested from Rajkot, Gujarat. He has no criminal background.

The ODI Cricket World Cup-2023 match will be played between India and Pakistan on October 14 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The accused had allegedly sent an email claiming that there would be an explosion at the stadium, an official said. However, he did not elaborate on it. The officer said that the accused is originally from Madhya Pradesh and currently lives on the outskirts of Rajkot.

“He had sent a brief mail from his phone and it also contained his name,” the officer said. He has no criminal background.” Ahmedabad Police had earlier said that additional security arrangements have been made for the India-Pakistan World Cup cricket match on October 14.

A huge crowd is expected to gather in the stadium in view of the India-Pak match. More than 11,000 personnel from various agencies, including Gujarat Police, NSG, RAF and Home Guards, will be deployed in Ahmedabad and at the Narendra Modi Stadium during the India-Pakistan cricket match on October 14, a senior official said on Monday.
