Wildlife Week 2023: Students Take Part In Various Activities In Bhopal's Van Vihar

 


Bhopal: A bird watching and bio-diversity camp was organized on October 4 morning at Bhopal's Van Vihar National Park under the State Level  celebrations of Wildlife Week 2023, which is celebrated every year from October 1 to 7. In this program, a total of 46 participants from Truba Institute Science and Commerce, SAM Girls College and Excellence College spotted different species of birds.



The participants were thrilled after seeing birds like Redstart and Grey Heron etc. Dr. Surendra Tiwari, Mr. AK Khare, Dr. Sudesh Waghmare, Dr. Sangeeta Rajgir and Mohd Khaliq and other officers/employees were present as resource persons. 



Director Van Vihar Mrs. Padampriya Balakrishnan was also present on this occasion. The program was conducted by Assistant Director Van Vihar Shri SK Sinha.


As part of  other competitions, a college debate competition on the topic “Is climate change a myth?” was organized in collaboration with World Wide Fund for 
Nature (India) from 11.00 am in which 18 participants took part. A creativity competition was also organized for college students to create awareness on the topic "Painting on Mugs/T-shirts" in which 17 participants participated.




With the aim of creating awareness about forests, wildlife and environment, an interactive program was organized in Vihar Vithika from 3.00 pm in which 43 students of VNS College participated. Shri Jasbir Singh Chauhan, retired Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Shri R Srinivas Murthy, retired Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests were present in the said program as subject experts. The curiosity of the participants was fulfilled by getting answers to various questions asked by the subject experts.



Earlier, on October 3, participants of Sant Hirdaram Kanya Mahavidyalaya participated in various activities. Participants were thrilled to see tigers and other wild animals in Van Vihar. 


Bird watching and bio-diversity camp will be organized tomorrow, 5th October. A henna competition on the theme of “Wildlife” will be organized in the promenade located at Van Vihar from 10.30 am and a teachers debate competition on the topic “Natural disasters are man-made” from 11.30 am. 




As another competition, palm painting competition on the theme of “Wildlife” will also be organized in the Vihar Gallery located at Van Vihar from 12.30 pm onwards.
