Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not be appearing before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today on Thursday for questioning in Delhi excise policy case. Instead, he is scheduled to participate in a road show alongside Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh.
On Thursday, Kejriwal called for the withdrawal of the ED's notice, which had summoned him for questioning, arguing that it was both "illegal and politically motivated."
The ED has issued the summons to Arvind Kejriwal as part of an investigation into a money laundering case related to an alleged Delhi excise policy scandal. His statement will be recorded by the investigative agency once he visits the ED's office in Delhi at 11 am.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is currently in power, has not disclosed whether the Chief Minister will comply with the ED's summons.
In response to the ED's notice, the Delhi Chief Minister's Office has described it as "unlawful and politically motivated," asserting that it was designed to obstruct his campaign efforts in the states with upcoming elections.
Kejriwal has also claimed that the notice was sent at the behest of the BJP.
