ICC ODI World Cup-2023: This Player Will Take Place Of Injured Hardik Pandya In Remaining Matches

India's star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will not be able to play in the remaining matches of the World Cup-2023 due to injury. In his place, Prasidh Krishna has been given place in the Indian team.

Krishna, who recently returned to the international fold following a year-long injury setback, has been picked as Hardik's replacement.

Hardik suffered an ankle injury when he landed awkwardly during the match against Bangladesh in Pune on October 19. Consequently, he had to leave the field and was unable to participate in the rest of the game. As a result, he was excluded from India's subsequent three matches against New Zealand, England, and Sri Lanka.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the team's management team had initially been optimistic about Hardik's recovery, as he had been receiving treatment and rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). They had hoped he would be fit to join the team for the semifinals, which India qualified for on Thursday. However, it has now been revealed that Hardik has not been able to recover in time to participate in the remaining matches of the campaign.

Hardik has written on social platform X that it is difficult for him to 'digest' this but will be with Team India from his heart.

'I'll be with the team in spirit'

Thanks for all the wishes, the love, and the support has been incredible. This team is special and I'm sure we'll make everyone proud. Love, always.”

Hardik has described the current Indian team as special.

He wrote, “This team is special and I am sure it will give everyone a chance to be proud.”

Hardik Pandya played in four matches of the current World Cup. He took five wickets at an average of 22.6. He got a chance to bat in a match and remained unbeaten after scoring 11 runs.
