PM Modi said this after praying at 'Koti Deepotsavam' for safe evacuation of workers trapped in Uttarakhand tunnel


Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that despite natural challenges in the process of evacuating 41 workers trapped inside a tunnel in Uttarakhand, the government is making continuous efforts to get them out safely. 

Modi prayed at 'Koti Deepotsavam' for the safe evacuation of workers trapped in a tunnel in Uttarakhand for the last 15 days. 'Koti Deepotsavam' is a religious event of lighting lamps during the Hindu month of Kartik. He said that the government is making continuous efforts to evacuate the workers safely and as soon as possible.

Nature is continuously giving us challenges: PM


Modi said, “But, we have to carry out this relief and rescue operation with great caution. In this endeavor, nature is continuously giving us challenges, but we are standing strong. We are trying 24 hours. We have to pray for the safe evacuation of those workers as soon as possible.” 

Modi said that the government and all the agencies together are leaving no stone unturned to evacuate the workers safely.

He said, “Today when we are praying to God and talking about human welfare, we also have to pray for all those labourer brothers who are trapped inside a tunnel in Uttarakhand for the last two weeks. " 


'Need to give courage to families of trapped workers'


PM said that there is a need to give courage to the families of the workers that the entire country is with them.

He prayed that every lamp lit during 'Dev Diwali' and 'Koti Deepotsavam' should bring light in the lives of those stranded workers as soon as possible.

On November 12, 41 workers were trapped after a part of the tunnel in Silkyara collapsed. It has now been 15 days since this incident. Rescue operations were started immediately after the incident, but the work was delayed due to obstacles in drilling.
