Brijbhushan Sharan Singh's son-in-law Vishal Singh said that Sanjay Singh's entire panel has won and the majority is also good.


On being elected as the new President of theWrestling Federation of India, Sanjay Singh said, "Now camps will be organized for wrestling...Those who want to wrestle are doing wrestling, those who want to do politics should do politics... "


Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has reacted to the decision of Sakshi Malik to quit wrestling.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said, "I want to give credit for Sanjay Singh's victory to the wrestlers of the country and the Secretary of the Wrestling Federation of India. I hope that wrestling competitions will resume after the formation of the new federation."



Sakshi declared her retirement


Earlier, Sakshi Malik, 31, the Olympic bronze medallist, declared her retirement from wrestling during a media event in New Delhi after Sanjay Singh's election as President of WFI. Sakshi's last appearance was at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where she secured a gold medal in the women's 62kg category. Despite this victory, she has not participated in international competitions since.


Born on September 3, 1992, in the Rohtak district of Haryana, Sakshi achieved early success, clinching a silver medal at the 2009 Asian Junior World Championships in the 59kg freestyle category at the age of 17. Subsequently, she added a bronze medal to her achievements at the 2010 World Junior Championships. Over the years, Sakshi Malik emerged as one of India's most accomplished female wrestlers, leaving an indelible mark on the sport.




What did the wrestler who lost to Sanjay Singh say?


The candidate who lost to Singh's close friend Sanjay Singh is Anita Sheoran, who has also been a wrestler herself.


Anita Sheoran, who comes from Haryana, is working in the state police service but has filed her nomination as a representative of the Odisha unit.


Anita Sheoran was also a witness in the sexual harassment allegations against Brij Bhushan Singh.


After the election defeat, Sheoran said, "We fought such a big battle, it seemed so difficult, everyone had expectations, we were fighting for the girls."


She told that the federation did not accept the change but she would continue her fight.


She said, “The fight against injustice will continue. We will not remain silent against injustice. But now there is no scope for improvement."
