Farmers' Protst: Rahul Gandhi speaks on phone to farmer injured during protest

Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi has spoken on phone to a farmer injured during the protest.

The presidents of Uttarakhand Congress and Indian Youth Congress have released the video of this conversation from their respective X accounts.

The name of the farmer with whom Rahul Gandhi is heard talking in this video is Gurmeet Singh. He is telling Rahul Gandhi that he has bullet fragments in one eye and both his hands. However, his eye has been saved by the doctors. Gurmeet Singh told Rahul Gandhi that around 100 people were injured.

Gurmeet Singh told that he has retired after serving in the Army for about 17 years.

Whereas Uttarakhand Congress wrote, "Rahul Gandhi ji spoke on phone to former soldier Gurmeet Singh ji, who was seriously injured due to police action in the farmers' movement. Rahul ji expressed his support for a peaceful movement and inquired about the health and well being of Gurmeet Singh ji.  Gurmeet Singh ji was a jawan and is now a farmer - instead of hailing him, this dictatorial attitude of the Modi government towards the country's protector and Annadata (food provider) is putting democracy to shame."

On Tuesday, farmers moving towards Delhi clashed with security forces. During this, tear gas shells were fired and water cannons were also used.

These farmers are coming towards Delhi demanding a law for minimum support price and implementing all the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission.
