Madhya Pradesh: 552 e-buses to operate for 6 urban bodies under PM e-bus scheme, air services to operate in various cities of state


Bhopal: A meeting of the Madhya Pradesh Council of Ministers was held in Bhopal on Tuesday under the chairmanship of CM Dr Mohan Yadav. The Council of Ministers approved the operation of Pradhan Mantri e-Bus Seva Yojana in the state to expand the infrastructure of city bus services in cities and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. 


Under PM e-Bus Scheme, 552 urban e-buses will be operated on PPP model in 6 urban bodies of the state (Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain and Sagar). With the approval for Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) in the scheme, the State Level Steering Committee (SLSC) has been authorized to approve, implement and monitor the scheme.


Indore has got approval to operate 150 PM e-buses, Bhopal 100, Gwalior 70, Jabalpur 100, Ujjain 100 and Sagar 32. The Central Government will issue the tender for the proposal. Each city will receive an amount of Rs 10 crore from the Central Government for the construction of bus depot. The buses will be operated by the concerned municipal corporation. The services of drivers and conductors in buses will be provided by the operator.


Approval for operating air services in various cities


The Cabinet approved the proposal by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department to operate air services in various cities of the state in collaboration with private operators under Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the state.
