There are reports of over 100 people injured and at least 11 dead in a fire at a firecracker factory in Harda, Madhya Pradesh.
Due to the blast, more than 60 nearby houses caught fire. 11 people died. More than 100 people are injured. Some dead bodies are seen lying on the road around the factory. More than 25 injured have been taken to Harda District Hospital.
Houses evacuated
The administration has evacuated more than 100 houses. Due to the impact of the blast, many pedestrians along with the vehicle were thrown away. There are intermittent explosions in the factory.
The factory is in Bairagarh village on Magardha Road.
CM convenes emergency meeting
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has called an emergency meeting of all the officials of the state regarding the incident. Fire brigades are being sent from Indore and Bhopal.
The Chief Minister's office says that Minister Uday Pratap Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Ajit Kesari, DG (Home Guard) Arvind Kumar are reaching the incident site by helicopter.
Hospitals alerted
Hospitals in Bhopal and Indore have been alerted. The burn units in Medical College and AIIMS Bhopal have been asked to make necessary preparations.
As soon as information about the accident was received, administrative and police officials took charge. Fire brigades also reached to extinguish the fire. The sequence of blasts is not stopping, due to which relief and rescue operations are being affected.
Over 30 workers were working in factory
The injured are being taken to the hospitals by ambulances. More than 30 workers were working in the factory at the time of the fire. It is also feared that children and women may be among the injured and dead. According to initial information, this firecracker factory belongs to Raju Aggarwal. The blasts were so severe that nearby houses collapsed.
Harda Collector Rishi Garg said that the condition of some of the injured is critical. Help of NDRF and SDRF is being taken. Our focus is on rescue and relief operations.
Doctors dispatched
In Narmadapuram also, arrangements have been made for the treatment of the injured in hospitals. 14 doctors have been immediately dispatched from Hoshangabad and surrounding areas. 20 ambulances are present in Harda, and 50 more are arriving.
Fire brigades are being sent to Harda from Bhopal, Indore, Betul, Hoshangabad, Bherunda, Rehti and other urban bodies and institutions.
