BJP Moradabad candidate Kunwar Sarvesh Singh passes away


Kunwar Sarvesh Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate for the Moradabad Lok Sabha seat, has sadly passed away at the age of 71. He breathed his last at Delhi AIIMS today at 6:30 pm. Sarvesh had been hospitalized since receiving the BJP ticket, battling cancer. He was ill for a long time and it is reported that he suffered a heart attack.


The voting for this seat occurred on Friday, April 19, during the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Moradabad witnessed a turnout of approximately 60 percent, slightly lower than the 65.39 percent recorded in 2019. Ruchi Veera from the SP stands as a contender against Sarvesh Singh.


Sarvesh Singh became MP from Moradabad in 2014


Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar, a businessman by profession, was considered one of the powerful leaders of Uttar Pradesh. In the year 2014, Sarvesh Singh became MP from Moradabad. Before becoming MP, he was elected MLA from Thakurdwara assembly seat 4 times. Sarvesh Kumar was also in the news during the loudspeaker controversy in Kanth assembly constituency in 2014.


Contested assembly elections for the first time in 1991


Kunwar Sarvesh Singh was born on 22 December 1951. Sarvesh Singh had contested the assembly elections for the first time in 1991 from Thakurdwara seat on BJP ticket. After this, he won the assembly elections four times in a row. After 1991, Sarvesh Singh had won consecutive elections in 1993, 1996 and 2002. However, in 2007 he had to face defeat from the BSP candidate. Sushant Singh, son of Sarvesh Singh, is a BJP MLA from Badhapur Legislative Assembly of Bijnor.


Sarvesh Singh had contested from Moradabad seat for the 4th time


BJP had made Sarvesh Singh its candidate from Moradabad Lok Sabha seat for the fourth time. In 2009, he had contested the elections against former cricketer Azharuddin, but lost, after this in 2014, he faced Dr. ST Hasan on SP ticket. He had won this election. After this, he also contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but had to face defeat.


If Late Sarvesh Singh wins, then this seat will be declared vacant


BJP candidate from Moradabad, Sarvesh Singh had cast his vote yesterday. His death will not have any impact on the counting and election process. Counting will be completed. If Late Sarvesh Singh wins, then this seat will be declared vacant and elections will be held again. If he loses, the winning candidate will be given the certificate of MP and the election process will be considered complete.
