Lok Sabha Election-2024: The nomination papers of Khajuraho candidate Meera Yadav, the only seat allotted in Madhya Pradesh to Samajwadi Party, a component of the India alliance, have been rejected.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has termed the rejection of nomination papers of his party's candidate as murder of democracy.
Terming the rejection of nomination papers as a crime against democracy, he has also demanded a judicial inquiry into this matter.
Akhilesh Yadav wrote in a tweet from social media site.
Describing this incident as BJP's frustration, he wrote, "It is being said that there were no signatures, then why did the examining officer accept the form. All these are excuses and it shows the frustration of the defeated BJP. BJP is cheating in front of the court's cameras. One can only speculate on the schemes they might concoct upon receiving the forms away from people's gaze."
He alleged that BJP is not only false in words but also in actions and is guilty of corrupting the entire administrative system.
Meanwhile, BJP state spokesperson Ashish Aggarwal told the media that the alliance had already lost before contesting the elections.
Under the agreement between the two parties in February, Congress had given only the Khajuraho seat in the state to the Samajwadi Party. Whereas Congress had announced to contest elections on the remaining 28 seats of the state.
Elections are to be held in Khajuraho on 26th April and BJP state president VD Sharma is contesting there.
Samajwadi Party had earlier made Manoj Yadav its candidate, but two days later announced Meera Yadav as its candidate in his place.
