Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Another Setback for Congress in MP, What Former MLA Lakhan Singh Baghel said While Joining BJP

Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh: In a significant political upheaval within the Congress party ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2024, former Karera MLA Lakhan Singh Baghel announced his departure from the Congress and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gwalior, MP on Monday.

The transition occurred late into the night, as Baghel officially obtained BJP membership from Bharat Singh Kushwaha and Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar.

BJP candidate Bharat Singh's confidence gets boost

Baghel said he was unhappy due to the lack of respect for party workers and this was the primary reason for his departure from the Congress. His decision to align with the BJP has injected a sense of enthusiasm within the party ranks, with BJP candidate Bharat Singh expressing confidence that Baghel's involvement will bolster their stance.

Having previously represented the Karera constituency as a BSP MLA from 2003 to 2008, Baghel commands considerable respect within the local community. His departure from the Congress is viewed as a big setback for the party's influence in the region.

Notably, Digvijaya Singh had enlisted Baghel into the Congress party back in 2018, recognizing his significance as a prominent figure in the Baghel community.
