Lok Sabha elections 2024: Ranchi Ready for INDIA Bloc's Mega Ulgulan Rally Today Amidst Political Turmoil; Rahul Gandhi, Sunita Kejriwal to Attend

Ranchi: As the Lok Sabha elections 2024 progress, the INDIA block's constituent parties are gearing up for a formidable display of unity at the Ulgulan rally scheduled for Sunday in Ranchi. With the first phase of polling concluding on April 19, attention now turns to the remaining six phases, starting May 13 in Jharkhand.

The Prabhat Tara ground in Dhurwa, an iconic venue, will host the rally, marking the second consecutive gathering by the INDIA block alliance following a significant event in Delhi weeks ago, triggered by the arrest of Delhi CM and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in a liquor scam case by the Enforcement Directorate.

Ex-CM and JMM’s working president Hemant Soren too is currently behind the bars after his arrest by ED in land scam cases earlier in January. His arrest has prompted the incumbent alliance govt to allege political witch-hunting by BJP through the misuse of central agencies to destablise the non-BJP states.

Cong anticipates a turnout of 5 lakh attendees

Congress spokesperson Rakesh Sinha anticipates a turnout of at least five lakh attendees at the rally, with prominent leaders from various opposition parties slated to participate. Notable figures include AICC president Mallickarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, RJD's working president Tejaswi Yadav, AAP's Sanjay Singh, Delhi CM’s wife Sunita Kejriwal, Shiv Sena’s Priyanka Chaturvedi, TMC’s Derek O'Brien, and National Conference’s Farookh Abdullah.

Sinha emphasizes the significance of the rally in shaping the nation's resistance against what he terms the autocratic BJP regime, aiming to combat perceived injustices perpetrated by the central government to safeguard democratic values.

Congregation of corrupt forces: BJP

However, the BJP has labeled the event as a congregation of corrupt forces in the country. BJP state president Babulal Marandi, addressing a press conference, alleges that those accused of exploiting the nation's resources and misleading tribals are uniting to deceive the public. Nonetheless, he asserted confidence in the electorate's rejection of such forces. Marandi said there is widespread support for a leader like Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, the traffic police have devised an elaborate plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement in the city during the rally.
