"Farewell to a Political Trailblazer": PM Modi and Leaders Pay Tribute to Sushil Modi


Political figures from various parties have come together to offer condolences following the passing of senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister of Bihar, Sushil Kumar Modi, who had been battling cancer.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow at the loss of his "esteemed colleague within the party and a friend of many decades," Sushil Modi. PM Modi credited him for the "rise and success of BJP in Bihar".


Bihar has bid farewell to an eminent pioneer in politics: Shah


Describing Sushil Modi as a significant figure in Bihar's political landscape, Union Home Minister Amit Shah remarked, "Bihar has bid farewell to an eminent pioneer in politics." He noted Sushil Modi's unwavering commitment to the welfare of the underprivileged and marginalized. "The void left by his departure from Bihar's political sphere will be deeply felt for years to come," Shah shared on X.


"I am saddened by the news of the demise of our senior leader Sushil Kumar Modi ji. Today Bihar has lost a great pioneer of politics forever. From ABVP to BJP, Sushil ji has adorned many important positions in the organization and government," Shah posted on X.


"His politics was dedicated to the interests of the poor and the backward. The void that has emerged in Bihar politics due to his demise cannot be filled for a long time. In this hour of grief, the entire BJP stands with his bereaved family. May God give a place to the departed soul in his lotus feet. Om Shanti Shanti," Shah added.


Modi was a true soldier of the JP movement: Nitish


Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who shared a close bond with Sushil Modi, expressed his condolences over the passing of the senior BJP leader, stating that it was an irreplaceable loss for the state.


"Modi was a true soldier of the JP movement and he was a good friend and one of the sincere and hardworking leaders. I am deeply shocked by his death," the CM said in his condolence message.

Tejashwi Yadav, the former Deputy CM and opposition leader in Bihar, also conveyed his condolences for the loss. He said, “I am extremely saddened to hear the news of the untimely demise of the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, our guardian, struggling and hardworking leader respected Shri Sushil Kumar Modi ji. May God grant a place to the departed soul in his feet and provide strength to the family and well-wishers in this hour of grief.”


My friend from the time of Patna University: Lalu


Tejashwi Yadav's father and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav condoled Sushil Kumar Modi's death. "My friend from the time of Patna University Students Union, i.e. for the last 51-52 years," he posted on X.


BJP chief JP Nadda and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also paid their respects. TMC chief Mamata Manerjee also paid homage to Sushil Modi.


Sushil Kumar Modi breathed his last at AIIMS, New Delhi on Monday late evening. He was 72 years old. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
