Madhavi Raje Last Rites in Gwalior Today: Rajmata will merge into Panchatatva near Madhavrao


Madhavi Raje Scindia Passed Away: The funeral of Madhavi Raje Scindia, the Rajmata of the Scindia royal family and mother of Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, will be held on 16th May i.e. Thursday in Gwalior. 


Raje's mortal remains were kept at her Delhi residence from 3 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday. 


Rajmata Madhavi Raje was originally from Nepal. She belonged to the Nepal royal family. Her grandfather Juddh Shamsher Bahadur was the Prime Minister of Nepal. He was also the head of the Rana dynasty. She was married to Madhavrao Scindia in 1966.


The last rites of Rajmata will be held at Chhatri complex at the same place where the funeral of her husband Madhav Rao Scindia took place. A large number of VVIPs and people from across the country are likely to attend the last journey.


Mortal remains will arrive by special plane


According to official sources of Jaivilas Palace, Jyotiraditya Scindia and other family members will leave from New Delhi Airport with the mortal remains of Rajmata, by a special flight at 10 am and will reach Gwalior Airport at 10.45 am.


The mortal remains will reach Rani Mahal located at Jaivilas Palace around 12 noon. From 2.30 pm her mortal remains will be kept for the last darshan and floral tributes will be paid by the people.


Last journey will start at 3 pm


The last journey will start at 3 pm, which will reach the Chhatri complex of the Scindia family in half an hour, where she will be cremated as per Hindu customs and Maratha method.


On Wednesday, the mortal remains of Madhavi Raje Scindia were kept at the Scindia bungalow in Delhi where people reached  for the last darshan. The Chief Ministers of many states, cabinet ministers and other political leaders arrived in Delhi to pay tribute.


Gwalior Collector Ruchika Singh Chouhan said that preparations are going on for the last rites in Gwalior. Security arrangements are being made as many big political personalities may also attend the funeral.


Many royal families to attend last rites


Many royal families are likely to attend the last rites. Gaekbad royal family of Gujarat, Patiala royal family, Jammu and Kashmir royal family, Tripura royal family, Nepal royal family, smaller royal families including Dholpur royal family and Samthar estate are likely to attend last rites.


Meanwhile, many leaders including CM Mohan Yadav, former CM Kamal Nath expressed grief over the demise of Madhavi Raje.
