ICC T20 World Cup 2024: India in final, defeated England by 68 runs


After 10 years, Team India has reached the final of the T20 World Cup. The Indian team has made it to the final for the third time. India defeated defending champions England by 68 runs. With this, the team led by Rohit Sharma has also avenged the defeat of the 2022 T20 World Cup. The team last reached the final in 2014.


India thus set up a summit clash with South Africa, who outplayed Afghanistan by 9 wickets in the first semi-final. 


England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and chose to bowl at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. Team India gave England a target of 172 with the help of Rohit Sharma's fifty. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav played crucial knocks as India posted a total of 171 for 7 in 20 overs after being invited to bat.


Then on the strength of Kuldeep and Axar Patel's bowling, the English team was sent to the pavilion for 103 runs in 16.4 overs.


Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel together sent 6 batsmen to the pavilion. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Phil Salt and Jofra Archer. Two batsmen were run out.


Jaspreet Bumrah, who was bowling the 17th over, got Jofra Archer LBW on the fourth ball. With this, England was all out for 103 runs and lost the semi-final match by 68 runs.
