NDA Government Formation, Parliamentary Meeting Live Updates, 7 June: After the results of the Lok Sabha elections, the process of forming the NDA government has gained momentum. Narendra Modi was elected as the leader of the parliamentary party today. In the meeting of NDA constituent parties held in the Central Hall of the old Parliament House, PM Modi's name was supported. Janata Dal United President and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar supported Rajnath Singh's proposal to elect PM Modi as the leader of the NDA parliamentary party. He praised Prime Minister Modi profusely and while approving the proposal of Narendra Modi's name, he said that we want you to take oath for the post of Prime Minister today itself.


Representatives from 13 NDA parties gathered for the meeting that commenced at 11 am in the Central Hall of the old Parliament (Samvidhan Sadan). During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for entrusting him with this new role and emphasized the NDA alliance as a reflection of India's core values.


All 293 NDA MPs, Rajya Sabha MPs and Chief Ministers and Deputy CMs of all states were present in today's meeting. BJP President JP Nadda gave the welcome speech. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh proposed the name of Narendra Modi for the post of Prime Minister. Amit Shah supported it and Nitin Gadkari approved it. JDS President Kumaraswamy supported the proposal.


Naidu acknowledges Modi's unwavering dedication


Following this, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, a key member of the NDA, extended congratulations to all. Naidu acknowledged Prime Minister Modi's unwavering dedication during the election campaign, noting that the PM tirelessly maintained his spirit from the beginning to the end. Naidu highlighted their efforts in Andhra, where they conducted three public meetings and a large rally, contributing significantly to their election victory.


Modiji served the country, whatever is left, he will complete it now: Nitish


JDU chief and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said- I support Modiji's name. I wanted him to take oath today itself. It is a matter of great happiness that he has been PM for 10 years, now he is going to be PM again. He served the country, whatever is left, he will complete it now.


Sources indicate that following the NDA meeting in the Central Hall of Parliament, the alliance leaders will assert their claim to form the government today. Modi is expected to be sworn in as Prime Minister for the third time at 6 pm on June 9 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Reports suggest that the entire cabinet will be sworn in alongside Modi.


Our alliance committed to principle of religious equality: Modi


Narendra Modi spoke at the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) parliamentary meet saying, ‘our alliance is committed to the principle of religious equality’. 


At the meet, senior BJP leaders, along with newly-elected MPs, and allies TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar expressed support for a Modi-led NDA, proposing him as the bloc’s Parliamentary leader and endorsing him for the next Prime Minister. Modi, along with Naidu and Nitish Kumar, is expected to meet President Droupadi Murmu today to formally stake claim for government formation.
