Two Indian citizens recruited in the Russian army have died in the ongoing war with Ukraine. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has given this information by issuing a press release.
According to the statement of the Ministry of External Affairs, "We (Ministry of External Affairs) regret to state that two Indian nationals who had been recruited by the Russian Army have recently been killed in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
"We offer our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. Our Embassy in Moscow has pressed the Russian authorities, including the Ministry of Defense, for early repatriation of mortal remains."
India demands early release and return of all Indian nationals who are with Russian Army
The MEA statement said the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Moscow have strongly taken up the matter with the Russian Ambassador in New Delhi and with Russian authorities in Moscow respectively, for early release and return of all Indian nationals who are with the Russian Army.
India has also demanded that there be a verified stop to any further recruitment of our nationals by the Russian Army. Such activities are not in line with our partnership with Russia.
MEA said, "We also urge Indian nationals to exercise caution while seeking employment opportunities in Russia."
Some agents had lured many Indians into joining the Russian army
In March this year, it was revealed that some agents had lured many Indians into joining the Russian army by promising them jobs.
Now these people are being forcibly sent to fight as soldiers in Russia's ongoing war with Ukraine. Many of these Indians had released videos appealing to the Indian government for help.
