Uttarakhand Rudraprayag Accident: Tempo Traveller Plunges into Alaknanda River, 8 Die, 15 Seriously Injured


A tempo traveller carrying 23 passengers met with a devastating accident as it fell into the Alaknanda river near Rauteli on the Rudraprayag-Badrinath highway in Uttarakhand. Eight people have lost their lives in this tragic event, with many others reported to be injured. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), fire department, police, district disaster management teams, along with local residents, are actively engaged in rescue operations at the accident site.


On Saturday, a tempo traveller with 23 passengers lost control and plunged into the Alaknanda river near Rauteli, located 5 km from the Badrinath highway. Fifteen out of the 23 passengers have been rescued and promptly taken to the nearest hospital, where all are reportedly in critical condition.


At the same time, more passengers are being rescued. Rudraprayag SP Dr. Vaishakha herself is present on the spot. Along with the local people, SDRF, fire, police administration, district disaster management, DDRF and other teams are conducting rescue operations on the spot.


Dr. Vaishakha, the SP of Rudraprayag, reported that a tempo traveller carrying 23 passengers reportedly lost control and plunged into the Alaknanda river near Rauteli. Immediate rescue efforts were initiated upon arrival at the scene. Presently, 15 passengers have been transported to the hospital in critical condition, while the remaining individuals are being rescued. 


It has been more than 1 month since the Chardham Yatra started in Uttarakhand. And every day lakhs of devotees are reaching here for darshan. Along with the Yatra, accidents have also started increasing continuously.
