18 coaches of Mumbai-bound Howrah-CSMT Express derail in Jharkhand, 3 passengers die, 20 injured


Three passengers died and about 20 others sustained injuries after about 18 coaches of a train headed for Mumbai derailed in Jharkhand early Tuesday morning. The Mumbai-bound Howrah-CSMT Express met with the accident near Chakradharpur in Jharkhand. The accident occurred between Rajkharsawan and Badabambo stations, , located about 80 km from Jamshedpur, under the South Eastern Railway. The train traveling from Howrah to Mumbai derailed at 3:45 am. 


According to reports, a goods train had derailed near the tracks and Howrah-CSMT Express hit the derailed coaches of the goods train.


Rescue teams were dispatched to the scene immediately following the notification of the derailment, and a rescue and relief operation is currently underway..


Out of the 18 derailed coaches, 16 were passenger coaches, along with one power car and one pantry car. The injured passengers received initial treatment from the Railways' medical team and have since been transported to Chakradharpur for more comprehensive care.


Authorities are working to determine the precise cause of the derailment. The Indian Railways has also provided helpline numbers to assist affected passengers.


Relief and rescue operations are currently underway at the site of the train accident near Chakradharpur on the Howrah-Mumbai route. The rescue efforts have started, with local police and railway employees actively assisting the passengers.


The injured passengers have been admitted to RIMS Hospital in Ranchi, as well as to government and private hospitals in the vicinity of Chakradharpur.
