Four army personnel including an army captain were martyred in firing by terrorists in Dhari Gote Urarbagi of Desa forest in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. A policeman was also martyred. Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police were conducting search operation here since Monday.
During the search, the terrorists ran away firing. The soldiers chased them. Due to dense forest, the terrorists kept dodging the security forces. Firing took place again around 9 pm on Monday night. In this, 5 soldiers were seriously injured. They died during treatment. According to media reports, the terrorist organization Kashmir Tigers has taken responsibility for the attack.
Search operation is still going on in the area. The army is also searching for terrorists with the help helicopters. The army has surrounded the terrorists. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has taken information about the encounter from the Army Chief.
Fifth encounter in 34 days in Doda
This is the fifth encounter in 34 days in Doda of Jammu division. Earlier, the encounter took place on 9 July. There was one attack on June 26 and two attacks on June 12. All the attacks were followed by encounters.
Rajnath Singh speaks to the Army Chief
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has spoken to the Army Chief regarding the encounter between security forces and extremists in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir.
At the same time, the office of Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha has tweeted and paid tribute to the soldiers killed in this encounter.
The Defense Minister's office has shared this information on the social media website X.
In this post, the office has written, "Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh spoke to Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi this morning. The Army Chief has informed the Defense Minister about the ground situation in Doda and the ongoing anti-terrorism operation there."
The Lieutenant Governor's office of Jammu and Kashmir wrote on X, "I am deeply saddened to learn about the cowardly attack on Army personnel and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel in Doda district. Tribute to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the security of our nation. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families."
Its Lieutenant Governor's office wrote, "We will avenge the martyrdom of our soldiers and thwart the evil intentions of the terrorists and their collaborators. I appeal to the people to unite in the fight against terrorism. Also, I appeal to give us accurate information so that we can speed up the anti-terrorism operation and neutralize the terrorist machinery."
