MP Weather: Heavy Rains Cause Flooding in Madhya Pradesh: Ujjain and Sehore Impacted, See Details

The relentless downpour in Madhya Pradesh has exacerbated the troubles for its residents. Recently, the region witnessed the devastating effects of torrential rains, particularly around Ujjain, leading to a sudden flood in the Kshipra River on Sunday.

This surge caused several small temples along the riverbanks to be submerged, and three cars parked nearby were swept away by the strong currents. Fortunately, those present managed to rescue the vehicles from the rising waters. Similar circumstances unfolded in Sehore, where heavy rains inundated local shops.

Level of the Kshipra rose dramatically

In Ujjain, the water level of the Kshipra River rose dramatically without any immediate rainfall, submerging four-wheelers parked on the ghat. The flooding also affected temples along the Kshipra ghats. This unexpected rise in water levels can be attributed to heavy rains in Indore and surrounding areas, causing an overflow into the Kshipra River.

Despite the peril, people managed to save the vehicles from being fully submerged. In response to the crisis, the authorities evacuated the ghats and deployed the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team along the river.

Intermittent heavy rains continue to lash several districts of Madhya Pradesh, further complicating the situation. The rising water levels of various rivers, including the Kshipra River in Ujjain, have resulted in widespread flooding. The sudden increase in the Kshipra’s water level led to the submersion of all ghats and several small temples.

However, despite these dangerous conditions, some pilgrims are still making their way to the ghats, raising concerns about the negligence of the district administration in ensuring public safety amidst the ongoing rains.

Heavy rain in Sehore, water filled on roads

The mood of the weather changed on Sunday, after the whole day of sunshine, there was heavy rain in the evening. Due to which people got relief from heat and humidity. At the same time, the roads were flooded due to heavy rain. The road of the city's main market was flooded with water. The dry rivers and streams also got strong currents, 2 to 3 feet of water filled on the road. Shopkeepers and people going out also looked worried.
