Recently, leaders within the BJP have voiced their dissatisfaction with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's bulldozer policy in Uttar Pradesh. One prominent critic is BJP MLA Surendra Maithani from Govindpure, Kanpur, who expressed his outrage after receiving a notice regarding the removal of encroachments in his constituency.
Maithani, representing Govind Nagar, learned that the bulldozer would be deployed in his area and responded by angrily calling the administrative officer responsible. He harshly reprimanded the officer and the engineer, warning them against proceeding with the demolition. Maithani's exact words were a stern threat: "If the bulldozer runs, I will push the bulldozer into the canal."
State has descended into jungle raj: SP
The incident caught the attention of Samajwadi Party leader IP Singh, who shared a video of Maithani’s confrontation on X (formerly Twitter). Singh commented on the situation by highlighting the conflict between BJP MLAs and administrative officers in Uttar Pradesh, suggesting that the state has descended into "jungle raj" (lawlessness). He even called for the central government to impose President's rule in UP.
No homes should be destroyed: Maithani
In the viral video, Maithani can be seen demanding the removal of all notices regarding the demolition. He argued that no homes should be destroyed, especially those that have been standing for 40-50 years. Maithani emphasized that both CM Yogi Adityanath and PM Narendra Modi are working to provide housing for the poor, and demolishing homes contradicts this mission.
Maithani's stance was clear: there would be no leniency for any demolition activity in his area. He warned, "If any of your men is seen here, there will be no mercy. No demolition work should be done here even by mistake. I am busy getting this canal cemented and you are talking about breaking all this. Record my words and keep it, it will be useful."
This internal disagreement within the BJP over the bulldozer policy underscores the growing tensions and differing opinions among party leaders regarding governance and development strategies in Uttar Pradesh.
