In a significant political development, Assam Chief Minister and BJP's in-charge of Jharkhand, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced late on Monday that former Jharkhand Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader, Champai Soren, is set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on August 30.
Sarma took to Twitter to share the news, posting a picture of Champai Soren in a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He accompanied the image with a message that read, "Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and our country's eminent tribal leader Champai Soren met Union Home Minister Amit Shah a short while ago. He will officially join BJP in Ranchi on August 30."
The Assam Chief Minister had already hinted at this development earlier on Monday. He expressed his desire for Champai Soren to bolster the BJP's strength by joining the party. However, he approached the subject with caution, acknowledging Soren's stature in Indian politics. "But he is a big leader, and I do not think it is right to comment about him. If he has come to Delhi, I will try to talk," Sarma said.
Sarma also emphasized his wish for Hemant Soren to join BJP
In his statements, Sarma also emphasized his wish for Hemant Soren, state CM and another prominent political figure in Jharkhand, to join the BJP.
Sarma highlighted the party's commitment to patriotism and expressed his readiness to collaborate with Hemant Soren in addressing the challenges facing Jharkhand, particularly the issue of illegal immigration.
"We have to save Jharkhand. For us, the country comes first. Today, the biggest problem facing Jharkhand is the intruders. Our party's only aim is to fulfill the promises made during the elections and free Jharkhand from intruders," Sarma asserted.
This development marks a potentially pivotal moment in Jharkhand's political landscape, with the BJP aiming to strengthen its position in the state through the inclusion of influential leaders like Champai Soren.
