A four-lane Greenfield Highway is being built to connect Bundelkhand to Baghelkhand in Madhya Pradesh. Its total distance is 105 km, while its estimated cost is Rs 2 thousand crores. With the construction of this highway, all the tourist places of Bundelkhand and Baghelkhand will be connected to each other and tourists will be able to reach them easily.
This significant infrastructure project is expected to greatly enhance tourism and economic activities in the Baghelkhand and Bundelkhand regions. The highway's construction will provide seamless connectivity to various tourist destinations across these areas, promising substantial growth in local businesses and tourism.
The highway will link prominent tourist attractions such as Orchha, Khajuraho, and Panna in Bundelkhand, as well as Bandhavgarh in Baghelkhand. With easier access to these sites, tourism is expected to flourish, driving further economic benefits to the regions.
The project, officially announced by Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on January 23, 2023, involves a total stretch of 105 kilometers with an estimated cost of Rs 2,000 crores. Upon completion, the highway will significantly improve connectivity between the key locations of Tikamgarh, Panna, Chhatarpur, Khajuraho, and Bandhavgarh.
Additionally, it will enhance accessibility from Bundelkhand in Uttar Pradesh, offering a quicker route to the Sagar-Kanpur and Bhopal-Lucknow Economic Corridors. This improved connectivity is set to transform the regions, fostering economic growth and making these historically rich areas more accessible to tourists.
Enhancing Tourist Connectivity in Bundelkhand
Bundelkhand has historically lagged behind in terms of road and rail infrastructure, making travel in the region challenging. However, significant initiatives are now underway to improve connectivity in Bundelkhand, with one project in particular set to make a major impact. Tourists arriving in Jhansi will soon benefit from well-developed roads that provide easier access to the area's key attractions.
This development will not only enhance the travel experience for visitors but also contribute to the growth of local businesses in tourist centers, villages, and small towns along the roads. Moreover, it will provide a much-needed boost to renowned destinations such as the World Tourism Center at Khajuraho, as well as Orchha, Datia, Jhansi, and Mahoba.
Additionally, historical sites like Panna's temples, diamond mines, the Panna Tiger Reserve, and the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, along with nearby religious and cultural areas, will also see increased attention and visitation as a result of these improved connections. This project promises to transform Bundelkhand into a more accessible and thriving tourist region.
