Why Pakistani cricketer Babar Azam is once again under spotlight and facing trolling for being compared with Virat Kohli?

Pakistani cricketer Babar Azam, known for his consistent performances over the years, is once again under the spotlight—this time facing harsh criticism and trolling on social media.

Babar Azam is being trolled once again for comparison with Virat Kohli. Despite being lauded as one of Pakistan's top batsmen and frequently compared to cricketing greats like Virat Kohli, Babar's recent performance against Bangladesh has been underwhelming.

The Bangladeshi cricket team is currently touring Pakistan, and during the first Test match, Babar Azam's performance was disappointing as he was dismissed without scoring a run. This failure ignited a wave of trolling, with social media platforms flooded with memes mocking his performance. He faced trolling as he had in the past been compared with Virat Kohli.

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam is constantly struggling with poor form in Test cricket. He has not been able to score a single half-century for the last two years. Babar Azam is being criticized a lot on social media due to his poor form. Many people said comparing him with Virat Kohl was wrong and mocked Azam for this comparison.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bowl first. Pakistan, batting first, had a disastrous start, losing three wickets with only 16 runs on the board. Babar Azam, who came in to bat, could only face two balls before being caught by Liton Das off Shoriful Islam’s delivery. At the end of the first day's play, Pakistan's score was 158/4.

The backlash on social media was swift. One user tweeted, "Babar Azam's comparison to Virat Kohli is the worst comparison in cricket history." The Aussies Army’s X account also joined in the criticism, stating that Babar does not belong in the same league as Test batsmen like Steve Smith, Joe Root, Kane Williamson, or Virat Kohli.

Another user pointed out that Babar Azam excels only on flat pitches and struggles on green wickets with grass, further questioning his abilities as a Test cricketer.
