The iPhone 16 series offers dual SIM functionality (eSIM in the US, Nano SIM + eSIM worldwide) and runs on iOS 18. Under the hood, the phones are powered by the advanced 3nm octa-core A18 chipset, which includes a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and a 16-core neural engine. Apple Intelligence, showcased at WWDC 2024, is supported by these phones and will also be available on the iPhone 15 Pro models.
The iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits, enhanced Ceramic Shield protection, and the Dynamic Island interface. It comes with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Plus shares the same specifications as the standard model but boasts a larger 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display.
Both phones include the Action button, which was introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro series, and a new Camera Control button located on the right side. This button allows users to zoom, capture photos, record videos, and perform other camera-related actions with a simple tap or slide.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are equipped with a dual rear camera setup, similar to the iPhone 15 series. This setup includes a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera with 2x in-sensor zoom and an f/1.6 aperture, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with an f/1.6 aperture and autofocus. The ultra-wide camera also supports macro photography. For selfies and video calls, both models feature a 12-megapixel TrueDepth front camera. Additionally, the new camera design supports Spatial video and photo capture, offering an enhanced multimedia experience.
