Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has made a big announcement while speaking to party workers at the Aam Aadmi Party office following his release from jail. He stated that he plans to resign from his position as Chief Minister in two days.
During his address at the Aam Aadmi Party headquarters in Delhi, he remarked, "I will be stepping down from the CM's chair and will not return to it until the public delivers its verdict."
Kejriwal said, "I will go among the public, go to every street, go to every house and until the public gives its verdict that Kejriwal is honest, I will not sit on the CM's chair."
'I thank the lakhs of people who prayed for me'
Delhi CM said at the beginning of his speech, "I thank the lakhs of people who prayed for me while I was in jail. I got a lot of time to read in jail, during which I read Ramayana, Mahabharata and Geeta. I also read Bhagat Singh's jail diary."
Accusing the Lieutenant Governor, he said, "I wrote a letter to LG that I am in jail, Atishi ji should be allowed to hoist the flag in my place. In return, I got a threat that if you write the letter again, you will not be allowed to meet your family."
'Days in jail boosted my morale'
Accusing the central government, Arvind Kejriwal said that the purpose behind sending me to jail was to break the Aam Aadmi Party and scare Arvind Kejriwal. But the days in jail boosted my morale.
He said, "I did not resign from jail because I wanted to strengthen the country's democracy. I proved that the government can be run from jail as well."
Kejriwal wants to make someone else a scapegoat: BJP
After Arvind Kejriwal's resignation announcement, BJP has said that this is their 'PR stunt'.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari has said that this is Arvind Kejriwal's 'PR stunt', he has understood that among the people of Delhi, his image is not of a staunch honest leader but of a staunch corrupt leader.
“Today Aam Aadmi Party is known across the country as a party of hardcore corruption. Through this PR stunt, they want to regain their lost image. But today three things have become clear in front of the people of Delhi. First, Arvind Kejriwal says that he has zero bank balance, then how did he build such a big glass palace.”
“Second, Arvind Kejriwal says that I will go among the people of Delhi and till then I will make someone else the Chief Minister. It clearly means that he wants to adopt the Sonia Gandhi model. Third, today he has understood that Aam Aadmi Party is losing the Delhi elections and the people of Delhi cannot vote in his name, so he wants to make someone else a scapegoat.”
