Kolkata Trainee Doctor Rape Murder Case: The CBI has revealed new information in the case involving the rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The agency alleges that certain records pertaining to the case were "falsely created and altered" at the Tala police station.
The CBI informed a special court in Kolkata that they have seized the CCTV footage of the police station and have sent it to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) Kolkata for investigation. The CBI says that during the interrogation of Tala police station in-charge officer Abhijit Mondal and former principal of the medical college Sandeep Ghosh, these things have been revealed, which revealed that some fake documents related to the case were made.
The CBI has claimed that the evidence was changed inside the police station and false records were prepared. The central investigating agency revealed this in the special CBI court on Wednesday (September 25). The CBI produced Mondal and Ghosh in court on Wednesday, following which they were sent to judicial custody till September 30. The CBI had arrested Mondal on September 14, while Sandip Ghosh, who was already in judicial custody in a corruption case, was taken into custody on September 15 in the rape and murder case on the orders of the court.
Earlier, the CBI had arrested the prime accused in the case, Sanjay Roy, on August 10, a day after the incident. The CBI alleges that there was an "unnecessary delay of two days" in seizing Sanjay's clothes and belongings, which could have led to the loss of crucial evidence. The CBI is now investigating a criminal conspiracy between Sanjay Roy, Sandip Ghosh and Abhijit Mondal in the case.
