Anurag Jain, a 1989 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service, will be the new Chief Secretary of MP. The state government has sent a proposal to the Central government on Monday afternoon to make him the Chief Secretary. Jain has also been informed in this regard. Jain will take over as the 34th Chief Secretary of MP on Tuesday, October 1.
Jain is currently posted as Secretary in the Union Ministry of Roads and Highways in Delhi. In fact, until Centre does not relieve Jain and does not hand over his services to the MP government, the order to make him Chief Secretary cannot be issued. The order is likely to be issued late night or by Tuesday morning. Jain will be the Chief Secretary till August 2025.

Anurag Jain has been the collector of three districts
Jain, a 1989 batch officer of MP cadre, started as Assistant Collector Sagar on 6 June 1990, after which he kept achieving new heights with his administrative efficiency. During this time he also got the opportunity to be the collector of three districts, including Bhopal district.
Jain was first made the collector of Mandla on 14 July 1997, after which he got the opportunity to take charge of Mandsaur district on 22 June 1999. On 16 July 2001 he was posted as the collector of Bhopal, he remained posted on this post till January 2004. This was the period when after Digvijay Singh's government in the state, the BJP government was formed under the leadership of Ms. Uma Bharti. Jain is originally from Gwalior in MP.
MP will benefit from Delhi relations
With Anurag Jain's arrival at the Mantralaya, a new wave of administrative reorganization is expected. Officers known for their administrative efficiency will have the opportunity to showcase their skills under Jain's leadership. Recognized as a results-oriented officer, Jain is believed to have a direct rapport with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who reportedly addresses him by name.
It is suggested that the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) played a significant role in Jain's selection as Chief Secretary. Delhi is well-acquainted with Jain's working style, which raises expectations that Madhya Pradesh will benefit from his connections in Delhil. Additionally, Jain may be instrumental in facilitating approvals for projects in Madhya Pradesh that have been stalled in Delhi. As a result, the Central government is likely to closely monitor the administrative framework in the state.
