In recent years, farmers in Uttar Pradesh have seen an increase in their income, thanks in part to the efforts of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology (CCA) in Kanpur. The university is playing a pivotal role in connecting farmers with modern technology and equipment, and now Japan has joined this initiative.
Experts from both the university and Japan are collaborating to introduce advanced farming techniques, leading to improved outcomes for local farmers. Dr. PK Singh, Research Director and Agriculture Expert at CCA, informed that a platform and policy have been in development between Japan and the Uttar Pradesh government over the past year.
MoU signed
An important milestone was reached with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the Ministry of Fisheries of the Government of Japan. Under this agreement, the UP government has designated Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, as a key partner.
Dr. Singh said that the Japanese team has visited the university 10 to 12 times, and several Japanese companies have been selected to collaborate. This partnership will provide Uttar Pradesh farmers with access to new technologies, including bio-fertilizers, innovative agricultural techniques, and high-tech machinery.
Hub for the Japanese scientists
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra located in Dilip Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, spans 150 acres and will serve as a hub for the Japanese scientists to establish their setup. Dr. PK Singh stated that farmers will receive training from these experts, which will significantly enhance their farming practices. Through this initiative, farmers will be educated about new technologies via the Krishi Vigyan Kendras located throughout the state, ensuring they understand how to implement these advancements effectively.
Upcoming Kisan Mela to Showcase Innovations
In October, Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology will host a Kisan Mela, where Japanese experts will participate. During this fair, farmers will have the opportunity to learn about Japanese agricultural technology and equipment. Experts will demonstrate how these techniques can simplify farming and boost crop production, providing valuable insights to enhance the livelihoods of farmers across the state.
