After wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia joined Congress, wrestler Sakshi Malik has said that she has neither joined any political party nor is she going to contest elections.
Answering such questions related to herself, she wrote on the social media platform X, "I want to inform all the media colleagues that I am not contesting elections, nor am I involved in any political party. My entire focus is currently on making India number one in sports."
'I will embark on a mission'
Sakshi wrote, "My dream is that my country gets at least fifty Olympics medals. This country has given me a lot and this life is in the name of the country. I will embark on a mission to give free sports training to children across the country, to take wrestling to every home. I will work to ensure that there are good sports facilities in every city."
She wrote, "Bajrang and Vinesh's decision to go into politics is their personal decision. Best wishes to them from my side.''
Sakshi Malik has won bronze medal in wrestling in 58 kg category for India at Rio Olympics.
Sakshi Malik had fully supported Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia during the movement against former president of Wrestling Federation of India Brij Bhushan Singh in the sexual harassment case of female wrestlers.
