Baba Siddique Murder: Police have uncovered some clues, says Maharashtra Deputy CM Fadnavis, probe underway

Baba Siddique Murder: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has provided an update regarding the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Ajit faction leader Baba Siddique, revealing that the police have uncovered some clues related to the case.

Fadnavis stated that the Mumbai Police is exploring multiple angles during the investigation but cannot yet disclose detailed information due to the sensitive nature of the ongoing inquiry. The murder, which occurred last Saturday night, saw Siddique gunned down by three attackers in the Kher Nagar area of Bandra, Mumbai.

Fadnavis, who also heads the state's Home Department, expressed his personal shock and sorrow over the incident. "We are all deeply saddened by this horrific and tragic event. Baba Siddique was very close to me; we worked together for many years," he remarked while speaking to journalists in Gondia district on Sunday. Siddiqui had joined the NCP, led by Ajit Pawar, earlier this year in February after departing from the Congress party.

Fadnavis responds to Sharad Pawar's allegation

Fadnavis emphasized that the murder is being thoroughly investigated from various perspectives. "We have found some leads, but I cannot reveal them at this stage. Some of the motives behind the attack have been identified, but further information will be shared after the legal process is completed," Fadnavis clarified.

Meanwhile, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar slammed the state government in the light of the incident, calling for accountability and suggesting that ministers should resign due to their failure to ensure public safety. When questioned about Pawar’s remarks, Fadnavis responded, accusing him of focusing on power rather than the welfare of Maharashtra. "Even after such a serious incident, Sharad Pawar is more interested in gaining political power. While his focus is on power, our focus remains on Maharashtra's security and development," Fadnavis retorted.

Lawrence Bishnoi gang claims responsibility

The fatal shooting of Baba Siddique took place just outside his son's office in the Kher Nagar area, with three assailants surrounding and opening fire on him. Despite being rushed to Lilavati Hospital, Siddique succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead upon arrival. The Mumbai Police have since arrested two of the suspects involved in the attack.

In a new development, the police are also examining a viral social media post that surfaced, purportedly from a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which claims responsibility for the murder. The authenticity of the post is still under investigation, with officials remaining cautious about drawing conclusions until all the evidence has been thoroughly examined.

The investigation into Siddiqui's murder continues as authorities work to piece together the motives and individuals responsible for this high-profile killing.
