Uttar Pradesh 2024 By-elections: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its list of candidates for the upcoming by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, selecting a total of seven candidates for key constituencies. Among those chosen are Sanjeev Sharma from Ghaziabad and Anuj Yadav from Karhal, with the party expressing confidence in their abilities to win in these crucial seats.
Sanjeev Sharma to Contest from Ghaziabad
Sanjeev Sharma, the Mahanagar BJP President of Ghaziabad, has been entrusted with contesting from this prominent constituency. Known for his longstanding association with the party and his organizational prowess, Sharma's candidacy is seen as a strategic move. Ghaziabad is a strong BJP bastion, and the party anticipates a favorable outcome in this seat.
Anuj Yadav Fielded in Karhal
Anuj Yadav will represent the BJP in the Karhal constituency, a seat traditionally seen as a Samajwadi Party stronghold. The BJP’s decision to field Yadav reflects its growing confidence in challenging its political opponents in significant constituencies. Karhal holds great political importance, and a tough contest is expected here as the BJP looks to make inroads.
Ramveer and Surendra Nominated for Kundarki and Khair Seats
In addition to Ghaziabad and Karhal, the BJP has named Ramveer Singh Thakur as its candidate for the Kundarki seat and Surendra Diler for the Khair constituency. Khair is a reserved seat for Scheduled Castes (SC), and Diler, having been active in the area previously, is seen as a strong contender. Thakur, who is a prominent face for the party in Kundarki, has generated significant discussion with his nomination, reflecting the local interest in his candidacy.
Candidates for Phulpur, Katehari and Majhwa
The party has also selected candidates for three other constituencies: Deepak Patel for Phulpur, Dharmaraj Nishad for Katehari, and Mrs. Suchismita Maurya for Majhwa. These candidates have been chosen to highlight local issues and promote the BJP's schemes in their respective areas, with each representing a key part of the party's strategy in these by-elections.
BJP's Strategic Focus for the By-elections
In preparing for these by-elections, the BJP has carefully considered both caste and regional dynamics in its candidate selections. By fielding experienced and locally respected leaders, the party aims to consolidate its position in Uttar Pradesh. The results of these by-elections will serve as a critical indicator of the BJP's grassroots strength and could set the tone for future political battles in the state.
