Airplane manufacturing company Boeing has decided to lay off 10 percent of its employees.
This decision of the company will result in about 17 thousand employees losing their jobs. Boeing's decision will also delay its production.
Actually, the company is currently facing many business-related problems. Boeing's Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg has told employees through an email that the jobs of executives, managers and employees are all in danger.
Ortberg said in a message to employees that the significant downsizing is necessary "to align with our financial reality" after an ongoing strike by 33,000 U.S. West Coast workers halted production of its 737 MAX, 767 and 777 jets
Boeing has also warned of losses in its arms and military equipment manufacturing business. The company has also extended the delivery dates of its new aircraft 777X.
Boeing is also facing problems related to employee strikes and quality of its aircraft.
The company's Chief Executive Ortberg has also said in his email that the company will continue to lay off employees in the coming months.
