Haryana Election 2024: Ashok Tanwar joins Congress, how big a blow to BJP ahead of voting?


Haryana Election 2024: Amidst the Haryana assembly elections-2024, BJP leader and former MP Ashok Tanwar joined the Congress on Thursday, 3 October. Rahul Gandhi got him to join the party in the Mahendragarh rally of Congress.


Tanwar left the Congress 5 years ago after differences with Hooda. After this, he also stayed in TMC and AAP. He joined the BJP on 20 January before the Lok Sabha elections-2024. In this way, he changed four parties in 5 years. After leaving the Congress in 2019, he also formed a party named Apna Bharat Morcha.


In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the BJP had given Tanwar a ticket from Sirsa seat. Here he faced Congress candidate Kumari Selja. Selja defeated Tanwar by 2,68,497 votes.


Big setback for the BJP


Tanwar's impact is on 9 assembly seats. This is being considered a big setback for the BJP in the midst of elections. Tanwar comes from SC. He has influence on 9 seats. These include Sirsa, Fatehabad, Ellenabad, Rania, Kalanwali, Dabwali, Ratia, Tohana and Narwana. All these seats come under Sirsa Lok Sabha seat. There are 8.13 lakh Scheduled Caste voters on these seats.


Was Seeking Votes For BJP Hours Back


Two hours before joining Congress, Ashok Tanwar was in the program of BJP candidate Ramkumar Gautam from Safidon seat of Jind district. Acting CM Nayab Saini was also supposed to come here, but he could not come. Tanwar's photo with Ramkumar Gautam is also going viral on social media. After leaving the program of the BJP candidate, Tanwar reached Rahul Gandhi's rally. Mahendragarh, where he joined the Congress.


Began his political career with Cong in 1993


Ashok Tanwar started his political career with Congress in the year 1993. At that time he was only 17 years old. He became the national president of the Congress party's student wing, NSUI in 2003 and Youth Congress in 2005. He worked with Rahul Gandhi in Youth Congress. Rahul Gandhi himself made Ashok Tanwar the president of Haryana Pradesh Congress in February 2014.


Tanwar and Bhupendra Hooda have always been at loggerheads


As Congress state president, Ashok Tanwar and former CM Bhupendra Singh Hooda have always been at loggerheads. It was because of Hooda that he had to leave the post of president of Haryana Pradesh Congress. Displeased with the ticket distribution before the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections, Ashok Tanwar resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party on 5 October 2019. At that time, Ashok Tanwar had also accused the party of selling Congress tickets for Rs 5 crore.
