MP Assembly Vijaypur, Budhni By-Election 2024: Poster of former Vidisha MP Ramakant Bhargava viral, know what is the whole matter?

MP Politics News: The by-elections for the Vijaypur and Budhni assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh have been officially announced, and the nomination process began on Friday, October 18. Despite this, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress have yet to declare their candidates for these key seats. However, a recent poster has caused a stir in the state's political landscape, even before the tickets have been finalized.

The viral poster features Ramakant Bhargava, a former Member of Parliament (MP) from Vidisha, and urges voters to support him as the BJP’s candidate for the Budhni assembly seat. The message, which is making waves on social media, reads: "Make BJP's popular candidate Ramakant Bhargava win by a huge margin by pressing the lotus button from Budhni assembly."

High-Profile Figures in Viral Poster

The poster is significant not only for its content but also for the high-profile figures it features. It includes images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Madhya Pradesh BJP President VD Sharma, and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. Along with the images, the poster prominently displays the lotus, the official symbol of the BJP. Sources indicate that the poster was distributed locally, though the party has yet to confirm its authenticity or endorsement.

Jitu Patwari Slams BJP

Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari was quick to criticize the BJP after the poster went viral. Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Patwari expressed his concerns, saying, "The public wants to know who is the king of the 'alleged' clan of elites these days? Because, BJP's Central or State Election Committee has not yet officially announced any candidate, but Shivraj ji has declared Ramakant Bhargava as the candidate from Budhni! The Chief Minister and State President of MP BJP must give a statement on this uproar from Budhni!"

His remarks reflect growing concerns within Congress about candidate selection within the BJP, highlighting the competitive nature of these by-elections.

Election Schedule

The nomination process for both the Vijaypur and Budhni assembly seats is set to continue from October 18 until October 25. Both BJP and Congress are expected to announce their candidates before this deadline. Following the nominations, scrutiny of the forms will be conducted by October 28, and candidates can withdraw their names up until October 30. Voting for the by-elections is scheduled for November 13, with the results being declared on November 23.

The Vijaypur assembly seat is located in Sheopur district, while Budhni falls in Sehore district. As a result of the elections, the model code of conduct is now in effect in these areas to ensure free and fair campaigning.

Potential BJP Candidates for Budhni

Speculation is rife regarding who will ultimately secure the BJP ticket for the Budhni seat, traditionally held by Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Among the names being discussed are: Guruprasad Sharma, Kartikeya Singh (son of Shivraj Singh Chouhan), Ramakant Bhargava (former MP), Rajendra Chauhan (former MLA).

Each of these figures is seen as a strong contender, making the decision critical for BJP's success in Budhni.

For the Vijaypur seat, the frontrunner appears to be Ramniwas Rawat, the current Forest Minister. Many insiders believe his candidacy is nearly confirmed.

Congress Contenders in the Running

On the Congress side, several leaders are vying for the party’s nomination in Budhni. These include: Mahesh Rajput (former district president), Rajkumar Patel (former minister), Kamlesh Yadav (district panchayat member), Jitendra Uike, Dharmendra Chauhan and Ajay Patel.

Meanwhile, Congress is considering fielding a tribal candidate in Vijaypur, with Mukesh Malhotra being one of the top contenders for the seat.

Vacant Seats

Both the Vijaypur and Budhni seats became vacant under different circumstances. Ramniwas, who won the Vijaypur seat for Congress in the 2023 elections, later switched allegiance to the BJP during the Lok Sabha elections, leaving his seat vacant after his resignation. In Budhni, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who secured the seat in the 2023 assembly elections, later contested and won the Vidisha seat in the Lok Sabha elections. He currently serves as a Union Minister, leaving Budhni vacant for the upcoming by-election.

As the by-elections draw closer, the political landscape in Madhya Pradesh is becoming increasingly tense, with both BJP and Congress scrambling to finalize their candidates and gain an edge in these crucial contests.
